The shortcuts in the language of flight sim
Flight sim enthusiasts have devloped many abbreviations and acronyms as their fascinating hobby has developed. This has made life a little difficult for trainee pilots who are struggling to become familiar with the language.So with the help of OZx Forum members and flight sim enthusiasts from everywhere we will attempt to compile a meaningful list of the frequently and perhaps not so frequently used. Just drop us an if you would like to contribute.
We will include acronyms that have not yet been explained in the hope that experienced pilots will come to our aid. We will index as the list builds. We will also supply links to further authenticated reading.

| GPS | Global Positioning System, is a network of satellites that transmit coded data that receivers on the ground can use to determine their position on earth. |
| ILS | Instrument Landing System. |
| MFD | Multi Function Display. |

| SDK | Software Development Kit. |
| Squawk | The squawk codes ID your aircraft through it's transponder to the tower/radar. It sends a unique code to the tower enabling them to follow your aircraft on the radar. The transponder sends your aircraft ID, height, speed and direction to the tower. |
